Dear Parents,
This year, your child will have an opportunity to
be “Star Student” for a week. While your child is the star, each day of the week will consist of an
exciting event or activity to honor him or her and to help us to
get to know our special classmate. The schedule is attached to this letter.
Please make note of your child’s scheduled
week, as Star Student, on your family calendar.
Here is a list of the activities we
will follow:
Monday: Poster Share
The week before your child’s turn
to be Star Student, I will send home a poster to be completed by your child.
The poster will be displayed on our “Star Student” bulletin board. The poster can
include photos or hand drawn pictures of the student, their family, pets, etc.
and information about them.
Tuesday: Favorite Book
The Star Student will bring in one of his or her favorite picture books to read to the class (or have the teacher read to the class) during our library time. I encourage you to have your child practice reading the story aloud at home first.

Wednesday: Lunch Buddy
The Star Student will have the
opportunity to invite a special person (adult family member or friend) to join
him or her for school lunch in the cafeteria. If the special guest plans to eat
from the student menu, please send in $ and the lunch order by Wednesday
morning. Or, the special guest can bring in a sack lunch if preferred.
Thursday: Star Handprint and
Wordle
Your child’s special week will be
commemorated with a special star on our “Wall of Fame.” In the center of the
star we’ll place the Star Student’s handprints and surround them with kind
words the classmates use to describe your child.
Friday: Guess What’s in the Bag
On Friday morning, the Star Student will bring in a
paper sack with 3-5 secret items from home. Offering only clues, the Star
Student will see who can guess what the special items are inside the bag. Let’s
see who can stump the class the longest!
The “Star Student” schedule is printed below. If you
need to change your child’s assigned week, please let me know. I’m sure we’ll
be able to accommodate your request. The week before your child’s turn as Star
Student, I will send home the poster to be completed and a reminder letter so
that you can help him or her prepare. If you have any questions, please don’t
hesitate to ask. I hope your child enjoys his/her special week.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Territo
